The Real Housewives of New Jersey\u00a0alum took to Instagram this week to share an\u00a0inside look at her decades-long marriage to\u00a0Rich Wakile. The mother of two reposted one of her husband\u2019s Stories in which she was seen at their Franklin Lakes home guffawing at one of his jokes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfter 35 years I can still make her laugh,\u201d Rich captioned the video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did Kathy and Rich Wakile meet?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kathy and Rich\u00a0met in the 1980s while on a flight from New Jersey to Florida. The couple recalled their first encounter in a 2018 video for\u00a0Yahoo! Life, saying they had spent years running in the same circles in Paterson before their proper introduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHow did I miss those beautiful eyes of yours?\u201d Rich asked his wife. \u201cBest flight you ever took.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Needless to say, the pair quickly hit it off and had their first date in NYC\u2019s Greenwich Village. Rich and Kathy got engaged about a year later and exchanged \u201cI do’s\u201d the following year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe made me laugh. I think that\u2019s my favorite part about you,\u201d Kathy said. \u201cYou\u2019ve always managed to make me laugh.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou make it easy,\u201d Rich responded. \u201cYou laugh at everything I say. Sometimes I\u2019m wondering whether it\u2019s really funny or if you\u2019re just making me feel good.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After tying the knot in 1993, the couple welcomed two children: a son,\u00a0Joseph Wakile, and a daughter,\u00a0Victoria Wakile. Fans got a close look at the family’s tight-knit bond in\u00a0RHONJ\u00a0seasons 3-5, in which Kathy appeared as a full-time cast member. (She took on a friend role in the following two seasons.) Kathy spoke about her family\u2019s dynamic in a 2021 interview with\u00a0Us Weekly,\u00a0reiterating the importance of quality time and laughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCommunication is key to any lasting relationship, whether it be a business relationship, a friendship or a marriage,\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cCommunicate with an open mind and, more importantly, laugh at the stuff that really doesn\u2019t matter that much. Kathy shared another marriage update back in January when she penned a sweet birthday message for Rich.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
