Faced with worsening weather and concern for the dog&#8217;s well-being, they knew they had to act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"478\" height=\"791\" src=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-155.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3542\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-155.png 478w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-155-181x300.png 181w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 478px) 100vw, 478px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_10-0\">&#8220;I think we have a soft spot for dogs in general,&#8221; Zurier tells. &#8220;And then, you know, we see a pit bull \u2013 we have a pit bull of our own \u2013 we understand that they are generally kind of looked over\u2026I just felt that the dog really deserved another shot, and so we could at least find it another home, as opposed to just calling animal control and sending it out to a shelter.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"473\" height=\"806\" src=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-156.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3543\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-156.png 473w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-156-176x300.png 176w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 473px) 100vw, 473px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_12-0\">They knew calling a rescue would take time, and with the rough weather, they stepped in to help Bishop themselves. Once home, Zurier and Molloy prioritized Bishop\u2019s safety, especially since they had their own male pit bull in the house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"473\" height=\"718\" src=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-157.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3547\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-157.png 473w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-157-198x300.png 198w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 473px) 100vw, 473px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_14-0\">They brought Bishop to Small Door Vet, where staff generously offered a pro bono checkup.&nbsp;&#8220;They were just really, really accepting,&#8221; Molloy recalls. &#8220;The vets there were just so helpful and like, wanted to do anything they could to make sure that we felt comfortable.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"465\" height=\"784\" src=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-158.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3548\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-158.png 465w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-158-178x300.png 178w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 465px) 100vw, 465px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_16-0\">Zurier noted that it was crucial to get Bishop examined because they didn&#8217;t know anything about his health history. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"482\" height=\"802\" src=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-159.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3549\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-159.png 482w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-159-180x300.png 180w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 482px) 100vw, 482px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_16-0\">&#8220;We definitely wanted to get kind of a quick checkup done, especially if we were bringing in the house with our dog and ourselves,\u201d Zurier says. \u201cAnd, you know, there&#8217;s a lot of things that can be carried through dogs, so it&#8217;s good to be safe in that regard as well.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"485\" height=\"718\" src=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-160.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3550\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-160.png 485w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-160-203x300.png 203w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_19-0\">Determined to find Bishop\u2019s rightful owner, Zurier and Molloy explored every avenue. &#8220;We called the police station, too. No police reports were written,&#8221; Zurier explains.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-161-683x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3551\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-161-683x1024.png 683w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-161-200x300.png 200w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-161-768x1152.png 768w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-161.png 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_21-0\">&#8220;We had gone to the hospital to see if somebody got admitted and left the dog, nothing there. And so, like, when there were no police reports, I was a little skeptical,\u201d he admits. \u201cBut I found out that people rarely ever file police reports for stolen animals.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"472\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-162-472x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3552\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-162-472x1024.png 472w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-162-138x300.png 138w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-162.png 692w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 472px) 100vw, 472px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_23-0\">Despite the lack of leads, Molloy turned to social media as a last resort. &#8220;I obviously don&#8217;t have a TikTok following. I have like 100 followers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"541\" height=\"824\" src=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-165.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3556\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-165.png 541w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-165-197x300.png 197w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 541px) 100vw, 541px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_23-0\">Most of them are my friends, and I don&#8217;t post that frequently, but I don&#8217;t know,\u201d she says. \u201cI see things like this on TikTok&#8230; So I was like, let me just make a video and put it out into the universe.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"945\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-168-945x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3559\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-168-945x1024.png 945w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-168-277x300.png 277w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-168-768x832.png 768w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-168.png 1385w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 945px) 100vw, 945px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_25-0\">Molloy\u2019s video gained traction, ultimately reaching someone who recognized Bishop from a Nextdoor post. &#8220;This woman was amazing&#8230; she had seen my TikTok post and a Nextdoor post. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"515\" height=\"799\" src=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-170.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3561\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-170.png 515w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-170-193x300.png 193w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 515px) 100vw, 515px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_25-0\">She recognized it, put the two pieces together, and then reached out to the person who did the Nextdoor post, which was the owner&#8217;s friend,&#8221; Molloy recalls. \u201cIt was clear that it was his dog.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"511\" height=\"797\" src=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-173.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3564\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-173.png 511w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-173-192x300.png 192w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 511px) 100vw, 511px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_28-0\">According to the Nextdoor post, Bishop had been stolen from his owner while they were on the subway. Someone &#8220;picked up&#8221; the pit bull and &#8220;ran off&#8221; with him, &#8220;just as the doors were closing.&#8221; Bishop was later abandoned at the park where Zurier and Molloy found him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"513\" height=\"790\" src=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-174.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3565\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-174.png 513w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-174-195x300.png 195w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 513px) 100vw, 513px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_30-0\">\u201cIt&#8217;s crazy to think that a dog can be stolen off of a subway, just like an iPhone,\u201d Zurier said. They later found out that the owner re-canvassed the area afterward, but their paths never crossed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"506\" height=\"780\" src=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-175.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3566\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-175.png 506w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-175-195x300.png 195w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 506px) 100vw, 506px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_34-0\">Nevertheless, when the moment of reunion arrived, emotions ran high. &#8220;We met [the owner] at the vet office to just be safe&#8230;we also had the vet there, just in case [Bishop] was in bad shape like, &#8216;Hey, you need to do X, Y and Z for your dog in order for it to be living a good life,&#8217; &#8221; Zurier explains.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"446\" height=\"749\" src=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-180.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3571\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-180.png 446w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-180-179x300.png 179w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 446px) 100vw, 446px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_36-0\">&#8220;But he basically walked in as the vet was closing&#8230;The dog ran straight up to him. He had his toys with him too. He was so happy\u2026He was bawling. It was so tough. And like, I definitely teared up during the situation.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"448\" height=\"749\" src=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-179.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3570\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-179.png 448w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-179-179x300.png 179w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_39-0\">Throughout their efforts, Zurier and Molloy never lost sight of their responsibility to ensure Bishop\u2019s well-being in the case that his owner wasn\u2019t found.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"439\" height=\"743\" src=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-182.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3573\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-182.png 439w, https:\/\/topkeynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-182-177x300.png 177w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 439px) 100vw, 439px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_41-0\">The couple tried to find a foster for Bishop, posting a flyer on social media and sharing it with dog-walking friends.
