The shocking investigation into the tragic death of comedian Reginald “Reggie” Carroll has taken another turn, as fellow comedian Corey Holcomb is calling out Mississippi authorities for allegedly moving too quickly to clear Katt Williams of any wrongdoing.

Carroll, 52, was gunned down last week at a Southaven residence tied to Williams. The accused shooter, Tranell Williams, who had been working as Katt’s security guard, has since been arrested and charged. While the District Attorney’s Office announced that Katt Williams himself was not considered a suspect, Holcomb says that decision was “far too early” and risks overlooking key details.

“This whole thing smells funny,” Holcomb reportedly said during a podcast rant. “You don’t clear somebody that quick when the crime literally happened in their house. That’s common sense.”
Holcomb, a longtime voice in comedy, emphasized that his frustration is not about accusing Katt Williams directly but about demanding accountability. “If the authorities want people to trust their process, then they need to take the time to investigate everybody tied to the situation—no shortcuts.”

Friends of Reggie Carroll remain devastated by the loss. Carroll, who had recently toured with Williams, was remembered as a father, a veteran, and a comic with a sharp wit. His sudden passing has left both the Baltimore and comedy communities shaken.
Meanwhile, fans are divided. Some defend Williams, saying he is being unfairly dragged into the case, while others echo Holcomb’s concerns that there are “too many unanswered questions” surrounding the events of that night.

As for Tranell Williams, the accused shooter remains in custody awaiting trial. The DA’s office has not yet responded to Holcomb’s criticism, but the story continues to unfold, with the comedy world watching closely.
