Nanny Faye’s $3,000 “Heist”: The Multi-State Casino Spree That Left Chase Chrisley Speechless

In the latest episode of the Unlocked podcast, Chase Chrisley revealed hilarious and costly memories of his grandmother’s endless passion for gambling—a hobby that cost him thousands in the most unexpected way.

Appearing as a guest on his sister Savannah Chrisley’s podcast this week, Chase Chrisley, shared his “absolute favorite memory” of the legendary Nanny Faye. What began as a supposed relaxing getaway to Palm Springs, California, quickly spiraled into a high-stakes casino “raid.”

From Relaxation to “Personal ATM”

Chase recalled that his original plan for the California trip involved nothing more than golfing and lounging by the pool. However, the moment they touched down, Nanny Faye was ready for action.

“I didn’t even know there were casinos there,” Chase began. “She looked at me and said, ‘Let’s go.’ I said, ‘We haven’t even landed yet, go where?’ She said, ‘To the casino. They have two of them.'”

The marathon didn’t end in California. After Chase had a successful run at the tables, Nanny Faye insisted on keeping the momentum going. As soon as their plane touched down back in Nashville—a city with no casinos—she commanded him to get in the car and drive straight to Indiana because they were “on a roll.”

The “Gas Money” Tactic

The highlight of the story involved Nanny Faye’s creative accounting. During their travels, she demanded $1,000 from Chase, claiming she needed it for “gas.” A bewildered Chase shot back: “What are we driving, a semi-truck?”

By the end of their “roller coaster” journey across state lines, Chase estimated his grandmother had successfully “extorted” about $3,000 from him. Even though she had a massive pile of winning chips sitting right in front of her, she coolly told him: “I need money to play with… that [pile] doesn’t matter.”

“She’s Always Getting Into Something”

Savannah, 26, laughed along with her brother, noting that their grandmother is a constant source of mischief who keeps the entire family on their toes. “She’s always getting into something! Always,” Savannah added.

Longtime fans of Chrisley Knows Best are well-aware of Nanny Faye’s love for the floor. Chase even reminisced about an old episode where his father, Todd Chrisley, tasked him with watching her in Las Vegas, only for her to disappear into the crowds. At the time, Todd famously asked: “How do you lose a 200-pound old woman?” to which Chase replied: “She moves fast! I didn’t see it coming.”

Despite being $3,000 lighter, the real estate agent insisted that the chaotic trip was “hands down the best memory” he has with his grandmother. Nanny Faye’s sharp wit and unpredictable energy continue to be the heart of the Chrisley family’s most legendary stories.
