McBee Farm & Cattle Co. Opens Its Gates for Kids in the Outdoors Day

As early fall approaches, the McBee Farm & Cattle Co. is gearing up for one of its most cherished annual traditions: Kids in the Outdoors (KITO) Day.

This heartwarming event brings 20 to 40 children from poverty-stricken areas in Kansas City out to the farm for a day filled with adventure, learning, and fun.

The day offers an incredible variety of activities, including fishing, horseback riding, archery, volleyball, and outdoor cooking, along with countless opportunities to explore the land and enjoy the freedom of wide-open spaces.

For many of these children, it’s their first real experience connecting with farm life—and it often leaves a lasting impression.

“We credit so much of who we are to the lessons we learned growing up on a farm—responsibility, patience, and respect for the outdoors,” the McBee family shared. “To be able to give these kids a chance to experience that, even for a day, is something really special.”

The McBees see the event not only as an act of service but as a way to pass on the values and joys of rural living.

With plans to expand KITO to a quarterly program starting in 2026, the family is committed to impacting even more young lives in the years to come.

More than just a day of fun, KITO embodies the McBee family’s belief in using their blessings to make a difference.

From the laughter of kids learning to ride a horse for the first time to the pride of catching a fish on their own, these moments show the true power of community, kindness, and giving back.

For the McBees, it’s clear: the farm isn’t just about raising cattle—it’s about raising the next generation with hope, resilience, and joy.
