After months of silence, Julie Chrisley — star of Chrisley Knows Best — is finally speaking out about her emotional journey behind bars, and the women who left a lasting mark on her life.

In a heartfelt conversation, Julie revealed that she still keeps in touch with a few women she met while in prison.
“I’ve talked to a few women I was in prison with who are now home. We all feel the same — like we lost months of our lives. One of my friends told me it took her six good months just to start feeling like herself again.”

Julie described the facility as a small, confined space — where every part of daily life happened within a single building.
“That’s where we slept, where we ate, where we watched TV — everything. You get to know people really well because, for a while, that’s all you have — each other.”
Despite the harsh reality, Julie says she met some truly amazing women she will never forget.
“I met women I’ll stay in touch with forever. I had a 77-year-old best friend — she was my card partner. And there were so many young women I could mentor, who just needed someone to care.”

Julie grew emotional as she recalled her final moments before leaving prison:
“Two of the girls — my roommates — told me they felt like they were being orphaned when I left. That broke my heart.”

🌿 A Journey of Awakening and Compassion
Looking back, Julie admits that her time behind bars taught her lessons no other experience ever could.
“I learned to listen, to understand, and to love people the world had forgotten about.”
She believes that sometimes, the brightest light shines in the darkest places. Losing her freedom, Julie says, helped her find herself again — a more grateful, grounded, and compassionate version of who she once was.

“I lost my freedom, but I found myself. I’m thankful — for the women I met, for the lessons I learned, and for the chance to start over.”
Julie also expressed her deep gratitude for her husband Todd Chrisley and her children Savannah, Chase, and Grayson, who have stood by her side every step of the way.
