KANSAS CITY – With early fall weather just around the corner, the McBee Dynasty is gearing up for one of their most cherished annual traditions: the “Kids in the Outdoors” (KITO) event.

A Sanctuary for City Kids The KITO event is designed to bring 20 to 40 children from the Kansas City area to the family farm for a day of outdoor education and fun.
The McBee family places a special emphasis on inviting children growing up in lower-income areas and those enrolled in the COHV (Children of Homicide Victims) program.

For many of these children, the event offers a rare opportunity to escape the city and experience the grounding nature of farm life.

Unleashing the “Inner Fire” Through Farm Activities The day is packed with activities that many of the visiting children have never experienced before. The itinerary typically includes fishing, horseback riding, archery, volleyball, and a classic cookout.

As seen in photos shared by the family, the experience is deeply hands-on. Children are guided by the McBee family members in caring for farm animals, including bottle-feeding baby goats. It is a chance to learn about agriculture, responsibility, and nature in a safe, welcoming environment.

Rooted in Gratitude For the McBee family, this event is about more than just fun; it is about sharing values. They credit their own upbringing on the farm for teaching them positive character traits and keeping them grounded.

“We’re so blessed to have the setup to be able to do events like this,” the family shared in a statement. “To be able to teach kids about what all the farm has to offer is special.”

Expanding the Mission in 2026 Currently an annual highlight, the McBee Dynasty has ambitious plans to expand their community impact. They have announced a goal to increase the frequency of these events to once per quarter, starting in 2026, ensuring that even more children have the chance to experience the great outdoors.
