According to the Holy See Press Office, the meeting between the Pope and the 23-year-old athlete included Sinner’s family and the President of the Italian Tennis Federation, Alberto Binaghi.
The audience took place in the rooms adjacent to the Vatican’s Paul VI Hall.
Mr. Bruni, from the press office, noted Pope Francis’ well-known passion for tennis.
In a video released following the meeting, Sinner is seen presenting the Pope with a tennis ball and playfully asking if he would like to play.
