Influencer and model Gracie Bon recently shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, revealing the emotional challenges she faced growing up as a plus-size girl. From being bullied in school to feeling alienated by society, Gracie said she never forgot how the world once treated girls like her.
“I support plus-size girls because I’ll never forget how society was against all of us. You can see it clearly in the comments on my post,” she wrote.
Today, Gracie says she feels more confident and happy in her body, even as she works out regularly to improve her health. “The love and support I receive from my followers is my biggest inspiration,” she added.
But life with her signature curves – especially her famously oversized hips – hasn’t been without its challenges.
Gracie revealed that she once needed two seats on an airplane, couldn’t close the door of a McLaren while sitting in the driver’s seat, was discriminated against at Disneyland, and constantly struggles to find clothes that fit.
She continues to use her voice to urge fashion brands and product designers to pay more attention to plus-size individuals, who are often overlooked in mainstream standards of beauty.
