Even after returning to the spotlight following their stint in prison, the Chrisley family seemingly cannot avoid internal rifts. Recently, Todd Chrisley publicly expressed his disapproval of his daughter, Savannah, bringing her conflicts with her grandfather onto the family’s new reality TV show, The Chrisleys: Back to Reality.
A Gentle Reprimand on the Podcast
In the latest episode of the Chrisley Confessions 2.0 podcast, Todd shared his candid thoughts with his wife, Julie Chrisley. He argued that generational conflicts should be resolved privately behind closed doors rather than being exposed for the whole world to see.

“I look at it from this perspective… I feel like in some instances, less is more,” Todd confided. He bluntly admitted he “does not approve” of knowing that Savannah’s remarks about her grandfather, Harvey Hughes, were broadcasted on television.
The Root of the Conflict: Favoritism from Grandpa?
The clash stems from Savannah’s lingering resentment; she feels her grandfather heavily favored her brother, Chase Chrisley, over her throughout their childhood.
Notably, Todd didn’t deny his daughter’s feelings. He acknowledged that his father belongs to “a completely different generation” and “is not known for always championing women.” He understands Savannah’s pent-up childhood emotions, but he strongly disagrees with how she chose to handle the situation:

- “If she wanted to call him out for not being there and not fulfilling his duties as a grandfather, that should have been done off-camera.”
- “I don’t have the right to dictate for her, I don’t know exactly how she feels… but that wouldn’t be my choice.”
Escalating Tensions on the New TV Show
Audiences witnessed this drama unfold right in the premiere episode of The Chrisleys: Back to Reality on the Lifetime network. Tensions peaked when Savannah overheard her grandfather complaining about how she handled her parents’ release from prison. Unable to hold back, the reality star was caught muttering under her breath: “I hate him.”
The Tumultuous Return of the Chrisleys
This family drama is unfolding against the backdrop of the Chrisleys’ spectacular comeback. Previously, Todd and Julie were convicted of bank fraud and tax evasion in 2022, receiving a combined sentence of 19 years in prison.

However, their lives turned a new page when they received a full pardon from President Trump on May 27, 2025, after serving just over two years. Immediately upon walking out the prison doors, the former Chrisley Knows Best stars were quickly scooped up by Lifetime for a new reality project. And it seems that, as always, the Chrisley family drama remains a powerful magnet for public attention.
