The Rescue Cat Who Broke the World Record for Longest Jump

✨ From Rescue to Record-Breaker

Oscar, a 7-year-old rescue cat from Dallas, Texas (USA), has captured global attention after being officially recognized by Guinness World Records for performing the longest horizontal jump ever recorded by a domestic cat – an incredible 2.58 meters (8 feet 5 inches).

Even more amazing? Oscar wasn’t always a star. He was rescued by Theodore Shiells while battling heartworm disease and had only a 50% chance of survival.

With proper care and a loving home, Oscar not only recovered but also revealed a hidden talent for athleticism.

🏋️‍♂️ Over 1,000 Jumps to Make History

“At first, he was just jumping a few inches,” Shiells said. “But then it became feet… and eventually over 2 meters. That’s when I knew we had something special.”

Over the course of two years and more than 1,000 training sessions, Oscar steadily improved. On February 26, 2025, he made history – leaping 2.58 meters, smashing the previous record of 2.3 meters and landing a place in the Guinness World Records.

🐈‍⬛ A House Full of Talent

Oscar isn’t the only star in the household. His feline housemate, August Ray, is known for something truly unique – surfing!

August regularly competes in dog surfing competitions in California, turning heads with her incredible balance and style.

💬 More Than a Jump – A Message

“Oscar is living proof that when you give an animal a second chance, amazing things can happen.” – Theodore Shiells

Oscar’s journey is a testament to the power of rescue and rehabilitation – a reminder that every animal, no matter how small or sick, deserves love and opportunity.
