Xing Xing: A Harsh Fate and a Fateful Encounter

For more than 15 years, Xing Xing has lived as a cherished member of the temple.

She often lingers near the elderly nun, sitting quietly in meditation, eating fruit, and occasionally sipping milk through a straw-a heartwarming image that has touched countless visitors and online viewers.

Despite losing the use of one arm, Xing Xing has adapted in remarkable ways. She eats, moves, and goes about her daily life using only her remaining hand-with surprising skill and grace.

Her gentle and calm nature has earned her the affectionate nickname “Buddha Monkey” from locals, as she embodies serenity, wisdom, and quiet gratitude.

Local authorities have put up warning signs, advising guests not to overfeed her or get too close, in order to ensure the safety of both the monkey and the public.

Although friendly, Xing Xing is still a wild animal and must be protected and treated with proper care.
